Art enthusiasts, mark your calendars for a unique and vibrant exhibition, Critical Distance is proud to present “this bridge between starshine and clay,” curated by Safia Siad, featuring the exceptional works of Renee Gladman, Adee Roberson, and Rashid Zakat. This exhibition dives deep into the world of sound, architecture, and the essence of Black aliveness. These artists make the concept of a musical bridge literal, creating portals and possibilities.

Opening Reception: Friday, October 13th, 6:00 – 9:00 PM

Join the opening reception on Friday, October 13th at Critical Distance Centre for Curators at 6:00 pm. Opening remarks will take place at 6:00 pm, then artist Adee Roberson will present an activation and performance in the gallery channeling oceanic and cosmic sounds through synthesizer, percussion and voice. At 6:30 pm, artist Rashid Zakat will perform in the Urbanspace Gallery just around the corner from the gallery. Using two turntables and a mixer, Zakat live-edits a thoughtful audio-visual narrative. Part dance party, part live video art performance, Revival! is a celebration that uses images and sounds to tell textured stories.
