Toronto Waterfront Marathon, Half-Marathon, & 5K Race – October 15, 2023
An application has been received from Chris Fagel of the Canada Running Series at (416) 944-2765 ext. 502 / email: chris@canadarunningseries.com requesting permission to temporarily close the roads in connection with the TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon, Half-Marathon, & 5K Race.
Date of Event: October 15, 2023
Road Closure Times: The road closures will begin at 4:00 AM. The rolling re-opening will be from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM (at the finish line areas).
Full Marathon Route – Start at 8:45 AM – https://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=7726217
- Start on University Ave south of Dundas St (full road), proceed north on University Ave/Queens Park/Queens Park Cres E continuing counter-clockwise around Queens Park, proceeding in the southbound lanes towards Hoskin Ave St W (full road).
- At Hoskin Ave St W, turn right and head west on Hoskin Ave St W (full road) to Spadina Ave (all northbound lanes).
- At Spadina Ave, turn right and head north on Spadina Ave (northbound lanes) to Bloor St W.
- At Bloor St W, turn left and head west on Bloor St (full road) to Bathurst St (full road).
- Runners turn left on Bathurst St and head south to Fort York Blvd (full road).
- At Fort York Blvd, runners turn right and head west (westbound lanes only), then south to Lake Shore Blvd W.
- At Lake Shore Blvd W, runners turn right and head west in the westbound lanes of Lake Shore Blvd W (full road).
- Runners continue going west on Lake Shore Blvd W to Ellis Ave. (all westbound lanes).
- NOTE: Maintain curb lane on Lake Shore Blvd W for traffic between British Columbia Dr, west to Gardiner Expressway West access ramp.
- Runners will make a U-turn at Ellis Ave and head back east on Lake Shore Blvd W to Fort York Blvd (all eastbound lanes, except south side coned access lane to Oarsman Dr).
- At Fort York Blvd, runners move to the westbound lanes of Lake Shore Blvd W and continue east to Bay St (full road).
- At Bay St, runners turn left going north in the northbound lanes of Bay St to Wellington St W.
- They will then travel east on Wellington St W and then onto Eastern Ave to then turn right on Cherry St.
- They will travel south on Cherry St to Front St W, then east on Front St W to Bayview Ave.
- Runners turn left (north) and head north on Bayview Ave to turnaround point at River St (full road).
- Runners U-turn at River St and head south on Bayview Ave, then west on Front St W, north on Cherry St, then make a right and head east onto Eastern Ave.
- Runners head east on Eastern Ave to Carlaw Ave (eastbound lanes).
- At Carlaw Ave, runners turn right and head south on Carlaw Ave to Lake Shore Blvd E (southbound lanes).
- At Lake Shore Blvd E, runners turn left and head east in the eastbound lanes of Lake Shore Blvd E to Coxwell Ave (eastbound lanes) to Woodbine Ave (full road).
- North on Woodbine Ave to Queen St E, runners will turn right at Queen St and head east in the eastbound lanes to Beech Ave (full road).
- Runners U-turn and head back west on Queen St E to Woodbine Ave in the westbound lanes (full roadway).
- Turn left onto Woodbine Ave, heading south and then west onto Lake Shore Blvd E (full roadway).
- Runners continue west on Lake Shore Blvd E in the westbound lanes to Carlaw Ave (westbound lanes).
- At Carlaw Ave, runners turn right and head north to Eastern Ave. At Eastern Ave, runners turn left and head west on Eastern Ave.
- Runners continue west on Eastern Ave to Broadview Ave (full roadway)
- NOTE: Access lanes will be coned for City of Toronto Works and Enbridge yards.
- Continue west on Eastern to Sumach St (full roadway)
- NOTE: TC54 cones used on north and south side to allow access do DVP on/off ramps.
- Continue west on Eastern Ave through Trinity St, at which point Eastern Ave becomes Front St.
- Runners continue west on Front St to Church St (full road). At Church St runners switch to Wellington St W (full roadway), continue west on Wellington St to Bay St, go north on Bay St to the Finish Line at Bay St just north of Queen St W.
Half Marathon Route – Start at 8:45 AM

- At Fort Fort York Blvd, runners move to westbound lanes of Lake Shore Blvd W, continuing east to Bay St (full road).
- Runners proceed north on Bay St to Finish Line at Bay St north of Queen St (full road)

Santa Clause Parade – November 26, 2023
An application has been received to temporarily close the road for the Santa Clause Parade and Holly Jolly Fun Run.

- Bloor St W, from Ossington Ave to Christie St
- Parade Route (12:30 PM to 4:00 PM) – View Map
- Starting at Bloor St W and Christie St, travelling east along Bloor St W to Queen’s Park
- South on Queen’s Park (southbound lanes), around Queen’s Park Crescent West to University Ave
- South on University Ave (southbound lanes), to Wellington St W
- East on Wellington St W to Yonge St
- South on Yonge St to Front St
- East on Front St E to Jarvis St – Parade will disperse on Lower Jarvis St, south of Front St E to The Esplanade (temporary North Market to offload vehicles).
- Parade Dispersal Area (1:30 PM to 4:00 PM)
- Lower Jarvis St, from Front St East to The Esplanade
- Curb lane closure (1:00 PM to 6:00 PM)
- Lower Jarvis St (northbound curb lane and the laybys), from The Esplanade to Lakeshore Blvd E

- NOTE: Parked buses will face eastward as they will exit out to Sherbourne St

Holly Jolly Fun Run Route: (starts at 11:45 AM)
- Route follows the majority of parade route closures
- Starting at Bloor St W and Christie St, travelling east along Bloor St W to Queen’s Park
- South on Queen’s Park (southbound lanes), around Queen’s Park Crescent West to University Ave
- South on University Ave (southbound lanes), to Front St
- South on York St (northbound lanes), to Bremner Blvd
- East on Bremner Blvd to finish at Maple Lead Square.
