Road Closure Updates & Event Notices

Metrolinx Demolition & Tree Removal at King and Bathurst

Date: As early as August 8, 2023

Duration: Up to five (5) months

Hours of work: Weekdays from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM

Demolition will take place for the north and south station entrances for King/Bathurst station.

Tree removal work is scheduled to begin as early as August 10th, with removals expected to start as early as August 11th. Four trees are to be protected and retained during this work. There are no planned closures or impacts to traffic lanes or pedestrian walkways. As always, please use caution when traveling near work sites.

Metrolinx Demolition at Queen and Spadina

Date: As early as August 25, 2023

Duration: Up to 5 months

Hours of work: Weekdays from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM with extended hours on occasional weekends. More information on weekend work closer to the start date.

Demolition will take place for the north and south station entrances for Queen/Spadina station.

Toronto International Film Festival

Date: September 7 to 17, 2023

Locations: Various

Road Closure: September 5 to 19

The 48th Toronto International Film Festival runs from September 7 – 17, 2023. Associated events will result in partial lane restrictions as well as full road closures between September 5 – 19, 2023.

ArtWalk ArtWalk 2.0 Launch Event

An ‘Augmented’ Showcase Of 70 Pieces Of Public Art In The Toronto Entertainment District

Join us at a VIP evening under the stars as we officially unveil ArtWalk 2.0. Be the first to experience the new AR art pieces, and learn about the impact of outdoor public art in building vibrancy and a sense of community within the urban environment.

Place: Roy Thomson Hall, lower outdoor patio (underground parking available) 

Grand unveiling and walking tour of three AR art pieces led by notable Toronto architect Joël León providing rich historical story-telling of the downtown west. Cocktails and catering from Lobster Burger Bar.

Upcoming BIA Community Session

The BIA will be hosting a community session with the goal of providing an understanding of organized crimes impacting our community. The event will include an opportunity to hear from Chief of Police Chief Myron Demkiw, best selling author and keynote speaker Timea E Nagy as well as various units from the Toronto Police Service.

Winterlicious 2024 Applications Now Open

The City of Toronto announced the return of Winterlicious 2024, taking place January 26 to February 8, 2024. Applications by table-service restaurants are now being accepted at www.toronto.ca/licious until August 24. Program criteria, application process, and instructions can be found at www.toronto.ca/licious and on the application form.

Applications open for Digital Main Street (DMS) Digital Transformation Grant

Eligible brick-and-mortar small business can now apply for the Digital Transformation Grant, designed to assist small businesses with adoption of technology. Recipients of the grant will receive training, advisory support and grant funding to increase their capacity through digital solutions such as marketing, training, website development, software integration or hardware upgrades. Applications will be accepted until September 30, or until the grant funds are exhausted.

Grants available from the Canada Digital Adoption Program (CDAP)

The Canada Digital Adoption Program (CDAP) is offering two new grants for small businesses. The Grow Your Business Online grant offers up to $2,400 to set up e-commerce and grow online sales. The Boost Your Business Technology Grant is designed to help cover the cost of formulating a digital work plan to increase productivity through digital adoption. Qualified applicants can receive up to $15,000.
