POSTED ON November 20, 2018 BY Justine Smith

In partnership with OCAD U, The Toronto Entertainment District BIA is excited to present the BIG IDEA Inclusive Design Challenge to our members. Inclusion and accessibility is a way to serve more customers and maintain your customers who may acquire a disability as they age.  You can get free inclusive design help and resources through BIG IDeA (www.bigidea.one an Enabling Change Project with the Government of Ontario) that is led by the Inclusive Design Research Centre (IDRC) at OCAD University. BIG IDeA is the first end-to-end platform in Ontario on accessibility for businesses and their customers. BIG IDeA provides businesses:

  • free badging and support in becoming accessible,
  • opportunities to get help with accessibility challenges from the community through design challenge events and
  • a showcase for their inclusion successes.

Don’t miss the opportunity to get a solution to an accessibility barrier at your business or to re-design one of your products/services to make it more inclusive at a BIG IDeA Inclusive Design Challenge. Over 50 businesses and organizations have already participated in inclusive design challenges including Telus, Arc’teryx, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, UBER, Human Space and Airbnb. Space is limited for these popular events so register now for the next BIG IDeA Micro Inclusive Design Challenge on Saturday, January 19th, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm  at  49 McCaul Street, Toronto and get innovators helping you. Online registration is fast and easy at: https://bigidea.one/register-bigidea-events/. Come prepared with an accessibility challenge that your business experiences or join an innovation team working on a submitted challenge.  Collaborate with the BIG IDeA community and learn about inclusive design thinking to make your business more inclusive and accessible for a variety of customers.
