The Deck

The Deck at Clarence Square reimagined Clarence Square Park as an inviting outdoor gathering space through temporary decking, seating, and an artistic installation that complemented the urban setting. Designed as an “outdoor living room,” the space was activated throughout the summer with live music, community programming, and partnerships with local organizations, including the Summer Music Series, Chess in the Park, Paws in the Park, and opportunities for local businesses to participate.

Gillie & Mark Sculpture

Toronto Downtown West BIA installed He Was on a Ride to a Safer Place, an interactive bronze sculpture by internationally acclaimed artists Gillie and Marc, in David Pecaut Square for a year-long display. Featuring Rabbitwoman, Dogman, and a northern white rhinoceros on a bicycle-built-for-four, the sculpture invites the public to take part while sharing messages of equality, acceptance, and wildlife conservation. Designed to be playful and participatory, the installation animates the square and adds to the district’s growing collection of public art.

University Avenue Triangle

We enhanced the University Avenue Triangle, a gateway space across from Union Station, through Phase 1 of a new pollinator garden and mural developed in collaboration with the Fairmont Royal York and OCAD University. Supported by the City of Toronto’s PollinateTO Grant, the project included over 30 native plant species to support more than 80 pollinator species, along with a mural by artist Julia Prajza. Additional enhancements are planned, including fencing, permanent interpretive signage, and further site improvements.
